AFC Colorado Dragons Join Mountain Premier League for Spring 2026

The Mountain Premier League will welcome a new ambitious and community-driven club this Spring 2026 as AFC Colorado Dragons officially join the competition.

Founded and led by Founder & President Danny Tran, AFC Colorado Dragons enters MPL with a clear identity, long-term vision, and a commitment to building both competitive excellence and meaningful community impact across Colorado.

A Mission Bigger Than the Game

At AFC Colorado Dragons, the mission extends far beyond matchday results.

“Our mission is to unite and empower the community across Colorado and the USA through the beautiful game of soccer.”

The club is dedicated to making soccer accessible to all by providing world-class training environments, structured development programs, and opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels.

The vision is equally ambitious:

“We aim to build a vibrant and inclusive soccer culture that bridges communities, fosters belonging, and celebrates the rich cultural heritage of our community.”

By nurturing soccer excellence and strengthening community bonds, AFC Colorado Dragons aspires to create a lasting impact that resonates far beyond the pitch.

Built for Sustainability

For its inaugural MPL season, the club projects an operating budget of approximately $6,000, funded through:

  • Ownership capital investment
  • Player dues
  • Sponsorship partnerships
  • Merchandise sales
  • Ticket sales
  • Media & content collaborations through DT Sports

The club is focused on disciplined financial management while reinvesting into player experience, match-day professionalism, and long-term infrastructure.

Home Grounds & Matchday Vision

AFC Colorado Dragons is currently evaluating Green Mountain High School and David A. Lorenz Regional Park as potential home venues.

Both options provide:

  • Quality playing surfaces
  • Spectator capacity
  • Parking access
  • Lighting for evening fixtures
  • Broadcast capabilities

The club places strong emphasis on professional match-day presentation and fan engagement as part of its competitive identity.

Technical Philosophy & Leadership

The Dragons’ technical leadership group brings:

  • Experience organizing and competing in Colorado-based competitive leagues
  • A strong player development focus
  • Structured training methodology
  • Emphasis on tactical discipline and fitness

The club’s football philosophy centers on organization, intensity, and accountability.

Recruitment Strategy: Talent Meets Culture

Player sourcing channels include:

  • Existing competitive core players
  • Local semi-pro and high-level amateur talent
  • University players
  • Open tryouts
  • Strategic affiliate relationships

The target roster profile reflects a balanced and disciplined approach:

  • Competitive, disciplined players with a winning mentality
  • Blend of experienced leaders and emerging athletic talent
  • High work-rate, tactical intelligence, and strong character

For the Dragons, recruitment is about more than ability.

The goal is not just talent — but culture fit.
